Thursday

This morning we got up and drove out to the Curecanti Recreation Area for a boat cruise through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The park service has a 40 seat pontoon that they use for tours of the river. The boat takes you 7 miles down and back through some phenomenal scenery. The canyon walls average over 2000 feet on each side of the river, with the total depth of the canyon being one of the deepest in the entire country.

Beautiful scenery--almost like being in the fjords in Norway. Looks like nice weather again for the boat trip. (M&D)

beautiful weather all day, I hear it was supposed to be 88 in Eau Claire today! Yes very beautiful place, I didn't take any pictures at all (ha ha). And you would have loved the stair. Down was a breeze, up was a wheeze. ~Anne

Nice picture, excellent-looking scenery. I am glad you all got to combine seeing relatives and a fine scenic touring trip too, so well. Almost 20 stories worth of stairs, whew! I like the way you put it (breeze/wheeze).
