Sunday

Mid morning found us driving out to Royal Gorge Park outside of Canon City. The first thing we went to was the inclined railway. This takes you 1200 feet almost vertically down to the rivers edge in the canyon. Next, we headed over to the cable tram, which carries you 1200 feet above the river with a span of a quarter mile between stations. After that excitement, we walked across the bridge. On the other side of the gorge there is an wildlife animal farm, petting zoo, and a bungee swing. While we were there, there was a civil war re-enactment on the bridge, and a shoot-out at the old-time town square. We stood right on the sidewalk while it was going down. After ice cream we headed out to Gunnison.

Phenominal-looking bridge over the Royal Gorge there, and it was interesting to read about what was all in that park. Your photo even captured that there is a small bridge way at the bottom of the gorge, for the road running down by the river there.

I will definitely have to remember to visit that bridge sometime.

Good to see that you found us....
I didn't notice that bridge thing at the bottom of the gorge. Next to the river is the Denver and Rio Grande R.R., which is where the tourist train from Canon City travels through.

M & D say "wow," impressive sight but not for the faint of heart. Ha. Ha.

then the faint of heart would not have liked even seeing that helicopter dive down in the canyon, seeing it was hard enough :-).

Definitely a beautiful place worth the visit!

btw it's the world's highest suspension bridge, and world's steepest incline railway....And the cog railway at Pike's Peak is the world's highest cog train, the highest Colorado train AND the highest train in the United States. So lots of interesting stops we made huh :-)Did you know all that?
